Windward Voters Seek Fresh Leadership
The Honolulu Advertiser, April 28, 2009
During last year's election, I'd see Chris Lee and Ikaika Anderson waving signs at Castle Junction — often side by side — as they competed for the Democratic nomination to succeed retiring state Rep. Tommy Waters. Lee, then 27, and Anderson, then 30, both campaigned on the theme of "a new generation of leadership," and Windward voters were obviously ready for some of that."

Voters Sent A Message To Felix
The Honolulu Advertiser, April 26, 2009
Anderson had that geographic credibility. He also had a couple of key endorsements, including the HGEA, and spent $98,000 on his campaign. Though this is his first time in elected office, the term "political newcomer" doesn't exactly fit. He is the grandson of former state Sen. Whitney Anderson and the grandnephew of former state senator and Republican gubernatorial candidate D.G. "Andy" Anderson. Having a third Anderson win a local election thus establishes a family dynasty."

Anderson Wins Council Seat
Honolulu Star Bulletin, April 24, 2009
"The political dynamics of the City Council are not expected to change with the election of J. Ikaika Anderson, observers say.  His predecessor and former boss, the late Barbara Marshall, often was seen as the deciding vote when issues split the nine-member Council 4-4, and Anderson is seen as a Council member-elect who would continue her independent streak."

In Defense of City Council Candidate Ikaika Anderson
Hawaii Reporter, April 14, 2009
"Chair Lee is way off base in lumping Ikaika Anderson in the same category as Steve Holmes in regards to resume padding. And, as Lee claims, Anderson did not accuse outwardly Holmes of anything- he merely set the record straight against a baseless accusation while citing Holmes' own well-documented past history of resume padding.  I read the article in Hawaii Reporter, "Hawaii GOP Weighs in on Council Race", by Hawaii GOP Chair Willes Lee and felt the need respond in defense of Ikaika Anderson."
