Hawaii's Next Generation Of Leadership
Ikaika Anderson was born at Windward Oahu's Castle Medical Center on February 5, 1978. He was raised in Kailua by his grandparents, Whitney and Hannie Anderson.Ikaika is a graduate of The Kamehameha Schools and The University of Hawaii, Manoa. While attending UH, Ikaika was elected to the Associated Students of the University of Hawaii at Manoa (ASUH) Student Senate, where he served for four years, chairing the Senate's Finance Committee for two of those years.
While earning his degrees in both journalism and political science, Ikaika was simultaneously employed at the Hawaii State Legislature from 1997-2001. In 2002, Ikaika ran for the State House of Representatives, and lost a tough fight to Tommy Waters. It was on the campaign trail in 2002 where he met Barbara Marshall.
Ikaika served as Marshall's senior legislative assistant until her passing in February of 2009. While working in Barbara’s office, Ikaika served for five years on the Waimanalo Health Center board of directors, two of which he served as board president. He has also participated in numerous community activities throughout the communities of Kailua, Kaneohe and Waimanalo.
Ikaika is a life long resident of Windward Oahu. He and his wife Lisa have two children, daughter Tianni, 7, and son J.W., 5. Lisa works part-time at First Hawaiian Bank in Kailua and is also a full-time student at Hawaii Pacific University. Both Tianni and J.W. attend school in Kailua.
